A sponsorship can put a name on a banner. The better measure is what it puts back into the community. On October 3, 2021, SSGI joined the first Rock the Lot as a Lager Sponsor and brought canned goods for HCAA's food drive—part of a free afternoon that turned local music, local food, and local participation into practical help for Harford County neighbors.

Where a local tradition began
At Double Groove Brewing Company, Last Set Girl partnered with the Harford Community Action Agency to host the first Rock the Lot as a free community afternoon that turned live music and food trucks into direct support for HCAA's food-insecurity work. The original Rock the Lot event listing invited free admission, and attendees were encouraged to bring canned goods to help fill a pickup truck for HCAA.
The Harford Community Action Agency operates food assistance and related programs across Harford County, and Rock the Lot was organized as a community-facing way to restock those programs ahead of the colder months. The 2021 event was the debut of what would become a returning partnership, and HCAA later recognized the community support on its community appreciation page.
Sponsorship backed by participation
SSGI participated as a Lager Sponsor and, in addition to that sponsorship, donated canned goods to the event food drive. The point of the day was not a single contribution but the combined effect of a brewery, an organizing team, a county-wide anti-poverty agency, and many neighbors showing up together.
The community made the day
By pairing free admission with a canned-goods drive, Rock the Lot 2021 lowered the barrier to participation while still directing real material support to neighbors facing food insecurity in Harford County. The afternoon was built around local music, local food, and local participation—neighbors helping neighbors, with the brewery and HCAA providing the structure.
Why this belongs in SSGI's story
SSGI is a Maryland-rooted, family-owned company. Supporting Rock the Lot was one tangible way to stand behind the community where SSGI lives and works—not a marketing moment, but a consistent choice to show up for the neighbors and organizations that make Harford County home. The same accountability drives how SSGI serves employers year-round.
